Granite contains very low levels of radioactive materials like uranium and potassium. Most of the experts who have studied the radon gas emissions given off by granite as it ages say that the level of this gas is nowhere near high enough to cause a risk to anyone’s health. However, there are other experts who disagree. Engineered quartz countertops don’t have any known safety concerns of this kind.

All the benefits above clearly point to quartz having a shot at the throne, though granite is still a great option and will remain very popular for a long time.
