L-Shaped Kitchen
This kitchen layout is divided across two adjoining walls in order to create a comfortable and effective working space. This layout allows you to create an efficient work triangle with your sink, stove/oven and fridge.
Single Line Kitchen
A space-saving layout excellent for small kitchens, it places the cabinets, countertop and appliances along one wall, creating a single line. For maximum convenience with this layout, its best to install the sink and stove towards the middle of the layout and the countertop work space fridge to the sides.
Island Kitchen
A layout suitable mostly for larger kitchens, it features the countertop work space in the middle of the kitchen, while most of the appliances and other work spaces surround it, lining the walls. If space allows the island generally features an eating area. The focus of this layout is on the social aspect of the kitchen, enabling all the family to take part in the preparation of the food (or at least in its consumption).
U-Shaped Kitchen
Surrounding you on three sides, this layout provides you with ample working space, making it ideal for your home if you spend a lot of time in the kitchen preparing food for a large family. It can be used to create a ‘collaborative kitchen’ where multiple cooks can assist and work effectively without stepping on each other’s toes.
G-Shape Kitchen
Similar to the U-Shaped Kitchen, this layout adds a little extra cabinet and countertop space to the three adjoining rows that surround you. This layout may allow for a bar eating area unless there is a wall behind the fourth row of counter space then it will just function as extra storage and work space.
Finally, another kitchen layout worth taking into account is the Galley Kitchen, in which the kitchen components are placed in two rows. It’s a practical arrangement and allows for a convenient work triangle unlike the Single line layout.
So if you are planning a kitchen remodel and have decided on your layout the next step is picking out your cabinets and countertops.
